Five Ways National Helps Papermakers Reduce Costs and Achieve Optimal
Performance
We're focused
At National Starch Papermaking Innovation we focus on one thing, and we do it
better than anyone else: specialty starches. We take our focus one step further,
applying our specialty starches primarily in the two areas where they deliver
the most value:
- At the wet-end, where they provide increased strength, development, drainage
and retention options in acid, neutral or alkaline papermaking.
- Specialty surface applications where they improve finished paper and board
printability, surface strength and oil and grease resistance. Specialty starch
products offer papermakers the benefits of improved runnability, reduced basis
weight, increased production and differentiable surface property performance.
We're extensive
National offers an extensive series of specialty starch product lines to meet a
wide variety of wet-end and specialty surface papermaking needs. We
revolutionized paper machine wet-ends 50 years ago with the introduction of our
CATO® cationic starches. Today, our family of products includes an extensive
range of starch bases and innovative cationic, amphoteric, hydrophobic,
viscosity modified and multi-component specialty starch formulations.
We're experienced
Nobody knows the papermaking additives business better than National. Our
products are backed by a strong technical support team that takes a system
solutions-oriented approach with every customer. We help increase the strength,
performance and printability of end products, and we also help paper mills
increase their operational efficiency by improving such variables as retention,
drainage, additive mix, machine runnability, production speed and overall
throughput. The combination of our superior products, advanced technology and
applications know-how makes National an invaluable resource for paper mills
throughout North America and the world.
We're environmentally sound
All of our products are based on starch, a natural polymer. Most of our
paper-grade products are approved for use under various U.S. Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) regulations. The use of natural polymer-based additives is
a proven means of reducing a paper mill’s release of volatile organic compounds
(VOCs) and biological oxygen demand (BOD) levels. Ask our technical support team
how National can help your paper mill improve your environmental impact through
products, technology, reduced waste and operating efficiencies.
We're committed
National Starch Papermaking Innovation has a long tradition of providing
proactive solutions. Our technical support and sales team is stronger than ever…
to service your needs.
